Escheat & Unclaimed Property in the Oil & Gas Industry
Did you know that suspended amounts pose significant risk to oil and gas companies? Or that all uncashed checks (lease payments, royalties, bonuses, production payments, etc.) can become reportable unclaimed property subject to the unclaimed property laws in states where you may not have operations? Are you aware of the “current-to-pay” requirements which dictate that subsequent royalties must be remitted after the first dormant one is paid to the state? In this workshop, you will learn about the fundamentals of unclaimed property compliance, the nuances and challenges of this regulatory scheme as it applies to the oil and gas industry, strategies for risk avoidance, and the latest unclaimed property developments. Instructors: Will King, Karen Anderson
